approach

My approach began with exploring how movement could be translated into a static composition. Since dance is dynamic and expressive, I explored shapes and images in the layout to suggest motion within the design.

I also experimented with color relationships and visual hierarchy to create a poster that would stand out while remaining balanced and clear. The goal was to allow the dancers’ movement to guide the structure of the design.

challenges

One of the main challenges of this project was designing a series of posters that were visually different while still communicating the same information and maintaining a consistent overall feeling. Each poster needed to feel unique in its composition, imagery, and color balance, but still clearly belong to the same event.

concept and inspiration

The concept centers on movement, rhythm, and renewal. The circular shapes represent motion and flow, echoing the natural gestures and patterns found in dance.

Each colored circle frames a different moment of movement, highlighting the individuality and energy of the dancers. The layered composition creates visual rhythm across the poster, reinforcing the idea of continuous motion and transformation suggested by the event title, All Things New.

Design execution

The execution involved combining photography with bold graphic elements to create a cohesive layout. I used circular masks to frame different parts of the dancers’ bodies, emphasizing gesture and motion rather than full portraits.

A vibrant color palette was applied to create contrast and energy while maintaining visual harmony and connecting the three variations unified. The typography was designed to be strong and clear so the event title remains the focal point of the poster while still integrating smoothly with the imagery.

The final composition balances structure and movement, creating a design that feels both modern and expressive.
