The process began with research into the meaning of Imago Dei and how that idea could be visually translated into a design that felt contemporary and wearable. Because the target audience was a group of college students, the design needed to feel modern while still clearly communicating the spiritual theme of the floor.
challenges
One of the main challenges was translating an abstract theological concept into a clear visual language. The design needed to communicate the idea of Imago Dei without relying on overly literal imagery.
concept and inspiration
The concept uses symbolism to visually represent the meaning of Imago Dei. Light and doves are used as references to God and divine presence, while the mirror represents reflection, emphasizing the idea that humanity reflects the image of God.
Together, these elements communicate the spiritual theme of identity and connection to the divine while maintaining a clean and minimal visual style.
Design execution
The final design uses a front-and-back composition to balance subtlety with visual impact. The front features a small emblem that serves as a minimal identifier, while the back presents the main typographic design of “Imago Dei” accompanied by radiating lines representing light.
